Light
Give bright, indirect light; avoid harsh midday sun. In winter, supplement with a 20–40W LED grow light for 10–12 hours daily.
Water & humidity
Water when the top 2–3cm is dry. Maintain 60–80% humidity using a humidifier or pebble tray. Keep temperatures between 18–26°C.
Soil & feeding
Use an airy aroid mix: 40% peat-free compost or coir, 30% orchid bark, 20% perlite, 10% pumice. Feed monthly at half strength in spring and summer.
Propagation
- Choose a stem with a visible node and aerial root.
- Cut below the node with sterile scissors.
- Root in moist sphagnum at ~24°C.
- Pot up when roots are 5–8cm long.
Problems & fixes
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Brown edges | Low humidity or fertiliser burn | Increase humidity; flush medium |
| Yellowing | Overwatering | Let mix dry further; check drainage |
| Slow growth | Low light | Move closer to bright indirect light |
Summary: Bright filtered light, steady humidity, and a chunky, fast-draining mix keep A. crystallinum healthy and showy.
